Saccharine Trust - Paganicons 12"

Too early to be post-hardcore and too uncommon for any simple classification, this Southern California quartet doesn't try to create a blizzard of noise – they go at it more artfully with equally ear-wrenching results. On 1981's Paganicons, Jack Brewer provocatively barks "We Don't Need Freedom," while the music is loud and abrasive – with spaces and dynamics largely uncommon to the genre. One of Kurt Cobain's favorite records of all time.
